Recap by The Metal Wulf;

As most of you are aware, the previous week's show had been pre-recorded, as a large percentage of the Onslaught crew made their way to Rochester to see Dream Theater at the Main Street Armory in Rochester.

Kick-ass show, I must say, with highly impressive performances not only from the headliner, but also from openers, Dark Day Sunday. For those unfamiliar, this band includes Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall) on drums and Frank Aresti (Fates Warning) on guitar, and quite frankly, you should check them out. Highly recommended!

Still, it was good to be back on the Onslaught after our short little break, and we were more than happy to have members of both HorseFace and Mercia on hand. Both bands are promoting the upcoming Hickstock event, which is a two-day event being held at the Phelps Community Center on July 27th and 28th. There's a very diverse line-up of entertainment, a little something for everybody, and it sounds very much worth checking out, if you're of a mind to do so!

This particular night was actually kind of special, as it fell directly on Joe's birthday, bringing folks out of the woodwork who hadn't been around in some time. My brother Bill and his little lady, Erica, made it out for a bit, and were kind enough to drop off some awesomely delicious brownies for Joe. Good to see them both, as it's a little difficult for Bill to hang with us as much as he used to, considering his new work hours. Still, he likes his new job, and if he can only periodically drop in for a couple of hours, so be it. We appreciate it all the more when he can drop by!

Another visitor was Sloth, who I had prior knowledge of only from watching some of the old Last Exit For The Lost DVD's. To be honest, nothing...and I mean NOTHING...can "prepare" you for an evening with Sloth...

You see, it starts with this nerve-shredding screeching and squealing. I mean, there may be words intermixed with the noise, but if there are, I surely couldn't tell what most of them were. I'm pretty sure at one point there was a great deal of "RANDY! SEX!" screamed at me, to which I shrieked back, "NOOOOOOO!!!"

And, of course, Jeffie and JustJoe from The Last Exit crew were on hand to add to the carnage...

Oh yes, there was carnage...carnage the likes of which had not been seen on the show in quite some time. I'm honestly thinking not since Rick and Josh's birthday. Numerous implements of chaotic destruction were on hand for our use and/or abuse, many items of which had been previously used on the show. The anvil was back, not to mention a couple of Kendo sticks (they hurt, a lot...take it from me...), as well as lots and lots of barbed wire.

There was the traditional barbed wire board (which some of us were body surfing on...) and the barbed wire baseball bat, as well as a new item, the barbed wire BALL!

Yeah, you read that right...and seeing Sloth and Josh playing soccer with it was a sight to behold, I must say. Sloth being barefoot at the time, of course.

Also interesting to play "Hot Potato" with, I must say...and let's not forget the barbed wire Bowling!

Josh eventually kicked the ball a little too hard, completely knocking it out of shape and requiring it to be re-wound and re-bound, ultimately making it look more like a Flail than a ball...and it also made a very nice pendulum!

Somebody also broke out a staple of the Last Exit shows, this being what's known as the "Dick Bat". Literally, it's a little dildo that was expertly duct-taped to a Whiffle bat by EVD when we celebrated my birthday in 2010. Kind of an awkward item to have in the midst, to be perfectly honest.

Seriously, you'll get to see all this and more once the video is put up later this week. It should be pretty freaking memorable...

Let's see...there were also some amusing discussions throughout the evening.

One discussion centered around a letter that I personally guarantee was NOT written by me, suggesting that I was not only a Trans-sexual but perhaps also a Pan-sexual or some crazy shit like that. Not even 100% sure what that means, but I'm guessing it's a way of suggesting that I wouldn't be too particular of where I'd stick my penis...Personally, I think there's way too much speculation on what I'm doing with my penis, and maybe some jealousy that it's not being directed in certain directions? Just speculating, of course!

** Letter Supposedly NOT written by Randy aka Metal Wulf **
I, Randy Smith, on this occasion of Joe's 50th birthday, am proud to announce that I am indeed a Transvestite. And a Panvenstite. And Pansexual. That's right, I will have sex with anything and anyone. None of you are safe, well, I mean, I am slow, so you can probably run away, but if you don't want to run away, I assure you will enjoy yourself, because I am a sexual master. A Pan-sexual master at that. Just ask the broom in the other room. It was beyond satisfied. So, I now offer my special services onto you, Joe, and anyone else here, included those of you who are inanimate. Meet me in the other room during the music set and we will get down... ***

And, in the realm of things that I personally find utterly terrifying, there was talk of a new breed of spiders in India. Apparently they're closely related to tarantulas, and are pack hunters. Specifically, they've been hunting HUMANS...

So, with that being said, I don't foresee me taking any trips to India in the near (or distant, for that matter...) future. Sorry folks, ain't gonna happen...

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

So, if you were tuned in this week, you know that I was ousted from the show early. Somehow I ended up by the road with a For Free sign tied around my neck...
Good thing Bill was passing by at around that time, 'cuz who the Hell knows where I may have ended up otherwise?
Thanks a bunch, guys, I won't forget this one...

Anyhoo, I probably deserved it, considering I'd consumed some Zatarain's Red Beans and Rice before the show, and the results were a little worse than normal...
(Worse meaning that Jeffie ended up comparing the smell to dead Sea Monkeys...25-year-dead Sea Monkeys, to be precise...)
Okay, I'm kind of a gassy guy, and yeah, everybody's right, it doesn't seem to matter what I eat! Maybe I should just starve myself? Either that , or just accept things for what they are and just go for broke every week. Maybe I'll have a whole bunch of broccoli and taco dip before the next show!
Mmmmm...
(No worries, I'm not actually a big fan of broccoli...)

Anyway, from a music perspective, there was a bit of a mixed bag for some of us. I mean, Joe played "Mad Dog" by Anvil, a song I hadn't heard since the 80's. Seriously, the last time I'd heard that song was on Bob Appel's old show, The Rock Shop.
The good old days...
So, yeah, that was pretty awesome. However, Joe decided that we deserved to hear that Metallica/Lou Reed song again. Now, this collaboration has officially been dubbed LuLu...although, as much as I love Metallica (and I really do, don't get me wrong...), the majority of us on the Onslaught seem to think that the name should be changed to PuPu...

Okay, the music itself really isn't terrible. It's mostly Lou Reed's involvement that turns this into a huge pile of shit, at least in my book. And face it, Lars' drumming in recent years hasn't been so great. Can't put my finger on it, but there is definitely something missing from his old sound...

Now, as if that weren't bad enough, he also tossed in some more Bulletboys from their recent cover album, as well as some Michael Schenker with Robin McCauley (a little lame, I'm sad to say, and I seem to remember that line-up of MSG actually being pretty good...), Five Finger Death Punch (hate 'em, just don't care for this band, never have...), and a truly awful track from Maylene and The Sons Of Disaster, a band that Joe actually liked an album or so ago.
Oddly enough, the best song that came out of that Set Of Pain (as I have dubbed it...) was the Bulletboys track, a cover of Scorpions "Falling In Love". In fact, we all agreed that Bulletboys actually IMPROVED on the original.
(Honestly, not that big of a feat, if you ask me, and I'm actually a fan of the Scorps...)

Redemption for this set came a little later, as Joe played some Charred Walls Of The Damned, which features former Judas Priest vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens, and was pretty freakin' good! He also backed that up with some classic Priest in the form of "Desert Plains", so the night really wasn't a complete bust!

On to the usual, non-musicall insanity:
Jeffie showed up with FMG, as well as Justjoe (from The Last Exit For The Lost). Seems it was Justjoe's birthday, and we all got to sing "Happy Birthday" for him!
As we all beat and kicked him into submission...
(Seriously, we clubbed him like a baby seal!)
We didn't have any water to revive him, but there was a big ol' bucket of cheese balls that he'd brought along! Oddly enough, pouring them on top of his head seemed to help.
Go figure...

It was shortly after this that I was forcibly ejected to the side of the road with a For Free sign tied around my neck, so from there, I've no clue what happened...

Recap by Fire Eater Wizard;
Jeffie arrived with Just Joe in tow. It was Just Joe's birthday! Jeffie said that, instead of giving Just Joe birthday spankings, they should all sing "Happy Birthday" to him... While they all gave him a brutal beat down throughout the entire song, which they all did. Just Joe wasn't too happy with this birthday greeting for some reason. Next Jeffie said he had a new fun game for them all to play... It was called Yearbook. Jeffie would give a category of "who is most likely to...", and everyone would give their vote for the person, there, or not there, that they thought best fit. So that went on for a while, and they voted on stuff like who was the most likely to have sex and not know it, who was the most likely to get set on fire, the most likely to fall off a roof, to get really drunk and tear someone's head off in a frenzied rage in a mosh pit, things like that. Then Jeffie brought back a feature from almost a decade ago, where he tells us what he did on each day of the past week, only, in Jeffie's week, there is no Monday, he says Sunday lasts for two days. Dumbass! So Jeffie did things during this past week like get naked and see how long it took someone to start screaming (he claimed it took a bit over five minutes, but I, and no one else, believes that, we're all sure it took WAAAAAYYY less time than that, more like five seconds, and even that's a stretch!), go kite flying, walk on a beach. Then Jeffie asked Just Joe to tell us what he had done during the week... And, with the exception of his going to The Last Exit For The Lost radio program, where he is a regular co-host, from midnight to six A.M., Saturday night into Sunday mornings, all of the rest of his days were exactly the same... He worked, he took care of his spawn, he slept. Oh yeah, one of the days, between work, the spawn, and sleep, he did something really different... He took a nap. Everyone pointed out to him how much his life sucked. Just Joe became depressed and was pouting. Jeffie told Just Joe that The Demon Azkath had told him what he needed to do to make Just Joe feel better, that he had something for him that he would really like... It was a board, covered in barbed wire. Jeffie said that Azkath had told him that he needed to body slam Just Joe onto it, that that would make Just Joe feel MUCH BETTER! Just Joe seemed somewhat doubtful that this would make him feel better, but Jeffie insisted that it would. He body slammed Just Joe onto the board. Just Joe's butt and crotch were firmly impaled on the barbed wire. The screams of agony were quite something to behold, and went on and on! Jeffie kept pushing Just Joe down onto the barbed wire, making him scream more. Jeffie kept asking Just Joe which way he should push. Just Joe shrieked not to push at all. Everyone explained to Jeffie that he needed to get Just Joe's butt and crotch off the barbed wire. Finally, after much agonized howling, Just Joe was free. It came out that Azkath had told Jeffie to do that as pay back from when, a couple weeks back, on The Last Exit For The Lost, Just Joe, and Shane, had teamed up to blind side him, causing him to be impaled on the barbed wire board by Just Joe, after Shane, who had been supposed to be providing cometary of the match, had clobbered him from behind with a metal sign. So this had been his revenge on Just Joe. Jeffie asked Just Joe if he felt better now, like he was supposed to. Dumbass! Just Joe said no, he felt even worse, much worse! Jeffie asked what would make him feel better? Just Joe said a hug from Rick would, because he said he now thought of Rick as his new Dave, Dave being Just Joe's good friend. Rick actually did agree to hug Just Joe, and hug him nicely, not like in a strangle hug or anything, and it actually was helping Just Joe feel better... Until Rick smacked Just Joe across the face, which Rick said he had done because Just Joe had wiped bodily fluids, fluids from the barbed wire experience, on him. Just Joe was still feeling quite miserable. Jeffie told Just Joe he knew of something that would make him feel better, something he would really like, and, he promised, it had absolutely nothing to do with barbed wire... They would tickle Josh! Which they proceeded to do. That finally made Just Joe feel better and happy after what had been pretty much a real bummer of a birthday for him, what with the brutal beat down at the beginning of the night, then finding out just how boring his life is, and how much it sucks, then the excruciating pain of having his crotch and butt torn up on the barbed wire, and topped off by being slapped by Rick, even if that last one was due to his own stupidity. Just Joe said he really liked tickling Josh, and was going to do it some more. They tickled Josh 'til his face was purple, and he was about suffocated. So Josh was the sacrifice to salvage something of Just Joe's birthday for him, and bring some happiness into what had not been a very happy birthday for him at all. Sorry, Josh, I guess you took one for the team there.

Recap by The Metal Wulf;
So, after the out of control insanity of last week, I figured we'd be hard pressed to follow that goofiness up for a second straight week.
I was wrong, so terribly, terribly wrong...

The Demon Azkath, Just Joe, and Foul Mouth Girl from The Last Exit For The Lost showed up to honor the birthday of our long-suffering host, Joe Wyatt. We celebrated by doing a variation of a Russian Roulette show. If you're familiar with The Last Exit, you know what I'm talking about. For those new to this concept, allow me to explain:

In a traditional Russian Roulette show, "bullets" are chosen at random from a bag, but only when certain songs are played. These songs usually fall into the category of cheesy, overplayed stuff. Each "bullet" is actually a small slip of paper with a special action or activity printed on it. For example, if Joe had chosen the slip that said Just Joe Hugs Everybody, that's what would happen. And, as I recall, that did transpire. One of the more tolerable bullets, to be honest. Believe me, they can get pretty brutal...
So, in this variation, Joe the birthday boy got to pick a random bullet during each talk break, and got to choose who got to perform the action written on that particular bullet.
Much to Joe's dismay, one of the first bullets to be pulled said that Joe had to play Alice Cooper's "He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)". Not one of Alice's most popular tracks on our show. Personally, I really don't mind it so much, but Joe can't stand it, so you can only imagine how that went over...
But, in the end, the song was played, and Joe complained that his birthday was starting to suck. And things weren't about to get any better...

The next bullet said "Randy Dances". Now, this was kind of tough, because anything with a danceable rhythm is kind of scarce on our show. However, I had a little brainstorm. There's an old classic rock song called "Black Betty" that never fails to get me moving, and thankfully Azkath had a version of it handy. Yes, that is what I danced to, and I'm thinking from here on in, that song's got to be my official dancing music.
During my performance, it was suggested that I give out lap dances. Joe didn't seem very receptive, though, so I moved on to Will, Lindsey, Kasey, and Josh. Can't really say that what I was doing could best be described as a lap dance, though. More like random humping motions, in rhythm, of course.
Overall, my efforts really weren't appreciated that much.
Amd Joe's compaints continued...

Things picked up on the next bullet. Funny thing is, Josh jumped at the chance to take one more the team when this bullet, which was called "Through The Board", was drawn.
A large, and moderately thin, board was placed on the floor, held up by two cinder blocks. It was then debated as to who was going to go through the board, and how they were going to go through. After much deliberation it was decided that Azkath would actually be the one to go through.
Further deliberation ensued as to HOW he would go through...
Approximately five minutes later, it was finally decided that Rick and I would do a double chokeslam on Azkath. It went pretty well, all told. I mean, Azkath was able to still talk and walk about afterward, so I guess he must have been okay.

Will was the subject of the next bullet, entitled "Hammer Smashed Face". Will had to lie on the floor, holding a Mac Book in front of his face. Azkath then took a VERY large hammer (and when I say large, imagine Viking weaponry...), and proceeded to smash the Mac Book over Will's face. Eventually the book was just left on the floor to be abused as we passed the hammer from person to person. I honestly thought we were going to lose Josh to a full-blown Viking Berserker Rage, and even I started to enjoy swinging that thing just a little too much.
Let's face it, Azkath's got some REEEEAAAALLLLY cool toys at his disposal!

Joe's birthday present from Azkath was finally revealed, much to the dismay of all. Yes, I regret to inform the Metallic Onslaught listening community that a brand new Jeffie has been created and unleashed on our show.
It was all good though, because the newest Jeffie made the perfect subject for the next bullet, which was entitled "DVD Player To The Head". Now, it was around this time that an old guest of ours decided to pop in unexpectedly. UWF wrestler, Jay Flyer, showed up with his security staff, and it was actually Jay's head of security who got to swing the DVD player at Jeffie's skull.
It didn't take long for the real carnage to happen. We ended up with a full-on Onslaught/Security staff brawl, and once the smoke cleared, I found myself holding that monstrous hammer, and wearing that goofy viking helmet that keeps popping up in my vicinity. Oh, have I mentioned that it seems this new "personality" is called Olaf?
Go figure...

Next bullet: Hugs! Yes, Just Joe made his rounds, accompanied by Jeffie, hugging everybody in their paths. To be honest, this was kind of a breath of fresh air, following everything else.

Speaking of fresh, Josh got the opportunity to freshen up Just Joe, because the next bullet requred that Just Joe be bathed. Not sure how that went for Josh. I mean, there IS a shower upstairs, and the two of them went up together, and Just Joe DID come back in his boxers, and with wet hair, so....
I'm guessing it was a success?

Time flies when your having fun, as the saying goes, and the final bullet of the evening once again fell on Just Joe. This one was called "Basement Time", and it was with the promise of cake that Just Joe was lured inside the door behind the basement. He was promptly shut in and told to be careful of the spiders...
I really can't blame Just Joe for screaming like a little red-haired girl with skinned knees. I don't particlularly care for spiders eithes, which probably explains my own screams when he came out of the basement and started hugging me, allowing the spiders to leave his body and crawl all over mine...
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

And so, it was on that note that Joe's birthday celebration for this year came to a close, meaning this will probably be the last time we experience the Russian Roulette fun for at least another, oh, seven weeks or so, when Bill's birthday rolls around!

Recap by Randy aka Wulfie, who is dreadfully afraid that the Croctosquatch may be real...

Before delving into the meat and potatoes of this weeks' recap, I'd like to point out that I have NEVER owned or worn a Tuggie...

We had members of Spater on hand, as we begin some serious promotion for the upcoming 2011 edition of the Finger Lakes Metal Fest.

Another upcoming event, one that we're really not as excited about, is No Pants Day, which is really beginning to creep up again. Hard to believe that it's just under three weeks away. I mean, just tossing around suggestions for this years' celebration was disturbing in and of itself. I mean, somebody actually recommended I wear a Tuggie!

(For those who have no clue as to what a Tuggie is, just think of a Snuggie for the male parts...)

Okay, granted the Tuggie suggestion came after I jokingly mentioned wearing a banana hammock for that show, but I can personally guarantee that the last thing I'm going to do on No Pants Day is subject folks to that sight. I mean, it may be all well and good for Dave and Just Joe to waltz around in their boxers, but  I'll probably just make due with a good ol' comfortable pair of shorts. Leave that other crazy shit for someone else!

(For those who have no clue as to what the big deal about No Pants Day is, feel free to check out the trailer on our Facebook page, or on the main web page. If you really feel the need to see more after that, check out videos from the past two celebrations, also on the main web page AND on YouTube!  Consider yourself warned...)

Sometime after the arrival of Azkath it was mentioned that perhaps we should do a No Pants Day invasion of The Last Exit For The Lost. Personally, I'm pretty sure that one night is going to be more than enough. Actually, I honest think No Pants Day has had more than enough mention for this recap. It'll be here soon enough, unfortunately.

Movin' right along...

So, one of the more humorous moments of the evening centered around the title of a song by a band I believe to be called Motherboar. The song title being (and I hope I've got the spelling right...) "Croctosquatch".
You can imagine the hilarity that ensued, seriously...
I mean, what the fuck is a Croctosquatch? The Satanic offspring of Wally Gator and Bigfoot? (As in, "Run for your life, it's the Croctosquatch"!
Or maybe some kind of diabolical form of STD? (As in, "I've got a really, REAAAALLLY itchy case of the Croctosquatch!")
The name just SOUNDS creepy! EWWWW!
Something tells me we'll be playing that one again. Probably frequently...

Moving along to the subject of my smoking!
I'm actually happy to announce that as of this writing I have not had a cigarette in two days. I'm betting Joe is pretty relieved, too, since things were starting to get a little out of hand during the week. I mean, for some bizarre reason every time I wanted a cigarette, I felt the urge to go to Joe's house and give him a hug. This resulted in an assortment of artillery being used. Rifles, shotguns, grenades...and a taser to the balls, which I'm still not exactly recovered from. Honestly, every time I get aroused, my hair starts to stand on end, and...well...
Just think of what happens when you touch something made of metal and that little jolt of static electricity jumps from your finger. Only it's not my finger that's involved...
Of course, as added incentive, I had some more tough love from Azkath, this time in the form of a barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat.
You may think I'm jesting, but the video will be forthcoming. I don't recommend being on the receiving end of such a device to be honest. Although, Will (aka Shades) was getting a good dose of the bat as well, and I got to be on the delivery end for a couple of shots.
Now THAT was fun!
