Recap by The Metal Wulf

So, for those who may have been a little confused in the first hour of the show, I'll take a moment to bring everybody up to speed.

You see, many, MAAANY years ago, before Joe started hosting the Metallic Onslaught, there was a show called Rockin' Rage, hosted by Drew Hammond. Joe had been trying for quite some time to get Drew to come by and spin some classic 80's hair metal for us, and this past Friday, that's precisely what happened! Gotta say, it was a pretty good mix of tunes thrown in there.

I take full responsibility for the Damn Yankees track, by the way. "Come Again" is one of my favorite Tommy Shaw songs, outside of Styx. Not gonna deny it.

Don't be surprised if we happen to get Drew to sit in with us again, all told, the whole thing went really well!

I got a chance to vent a little bit about the cluster fuck that was the Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson show at the Main Street Armory last Tuesday night. Amazingly enough, I got through the whole discussion without swearing. Seriously, I wasn't very confident in my ability to do that, that's how upsetting the whole situation was, and I was one of the lucky ones...

So, if you weren't there, this is what transpired:

Over an hour wait for the doors to open, in not-very-warm weather. At least it wasn't precipitating...

Doors were to open at 6:00, and didn't open 'til after 7:00. Bill, Erica, and I were fortunate enough to get inside with just enough time to visit the rest rooms and take a peek at the over-priced t-shirts before Manson took the stage.

No opener, by the way, although DJ Starscream (Slipknot's Sid Wilson) was to have that slot in J Devil's absence.

So, people were still lined up outside during Manson's set. General agreement seems to be that there were in excess of 3,000 people who missed at LEAST half of Manson's set. That's better than half the people in attendance, as more than 5,000 people were packed into the Armory for this show, literally elbow to elbow, front to back, through the whole damned place...Which brings me to another point of annoyance. Why do they constantly oversell this place? If it took that long to get everybody in, I shudder to think what would have happened in the event of an emergency and everybody had to vacate in a hurry. I'm pretty sure that a fire that night would have made the Station Night Club tragedy look like a weenie roast...

Numerous complaints regarding security, as it was the second time this particular company had worked the Armory. I, personally, didn't see anything too out of the ordinary, although I question why they seemed more interested in shining their lights in people's cars while we were waiting to get in.

Zombie and Manson both kicked ass, so at least that was a plus.

Anyway, it took the Armory two days to address the situation, after many of us had spent that time addressing it in our own manner.

In a nutshell, a miscommunication between Zombie's Production Manager and the Armory staff resulted in the stage being assembled late in the day, cutting into the time the doors were to open, as well as cutting into the time that the opener was to take the stage. The Armory seems bound and determined to place all blame on Zombie's staff, and maybe rightly so. Still, my point is how does this venue NOT research the artists they're booking?

I mean, come on, Zombie brings a show that rivals any other act known for big stage productions, including KISS.

Enough about that, though...

So, we saw the return of Jeffie, who had mistakenly traveled to New Orleans to find Joe a handful of weeks ago. If you remember correctly, Joe had been vacationing in Lake George, and Jeffie got very, VERY sidetracked...

We'd spent previous weeks dreading his return, 'cuz lets face it, none of us really wanted to think about what kind of trouble he could have been finding down in Cajun Country. I mean, for all we knew he could have taken up Alligator Wrestling and was planning on returning with some reptilian companionship. Of course, had he been actually eaten by a gator....hmmmmm...I suppose we could always send him back down there...

Anyhoo, he returned, and it was worse than any of us could have anticipated. Actually, I think some of us may have been somewhat prepared for this possible scenario. For my part, I probably just found the idea to be too farfetched to take seriously.

But, as it turns out, Jeffie had gotten mixed up with a Voodoo Priestess...named Papa Shango...

Papa...Shango...wha-?

Yeah, I know, I said it myself. Papa Shango was a short-lived WWE Wrestler about 20 years ago. The character was god-awful, and they eventually reintroduced the guy as Kama...who eventually had his greatest success when he became that Ho-lovin' Pimp Daddy, The Godfather. But, Jeffie insists he never heard of the guy, and that this Papa Shango was a woman.

Yeah, it makes my brain hurt, too, I know...

Honestly, I just chalked it up to the possibility that maybe he'd partied a bit too much, but then...I've never known Jeffie to be much of a drinker...unless it was bleach. Silly guy just LOOOOVES his bleach...

So, whoever this lady was, she supposedly taught Jeffie how to turn people into zombies.

Yep, pure ridiculousness. Sheer idiocy.

I think the only thing she taught him was how to be more of a clumsy oaf than he already was. Every time I turned around Friday night, he was flat on his face, looking like he'd been getting his ass kicked. And on more than one occasion, I'd turn my head to see him with his head in Josh's lap.

Yeah, you can only imagine what THAT looked like! Hell, at one point I had to tell them to get a damned room!

And what's more, he seemed to be confused as to what was wrong with me! Apparently, I was supposed to be turning into some kind of wrestling zombie. Yep, utter fucking nonsense. I mean, I admittedly had a couple of moments where I was a little disoriented, but I chalk it up to lack of sleep. I mean, I really DO keep some crazy hours. Hell, look at the time of night that I'm writing this! It's almost 2:00 a.m., for Chrissakes!

But, Jeffie would have you thinking I was turning into a zombie, and beating him up, which I suppose wasn't his plan, as he seemed to be wanting me to beat up on Josh or Rick.

He's such a goof, I swear...

Outside of that, there was another brief discussion concerning this whole cake-eating thing. Quite frankly, Azkath has successfully turned me off of cake for the time being. Honestly, I can't think about the stuff without stifling the urge to vomit, profusely. To make matters worse, Jeffie seems to think it would be a wonderful idea, and wants to take part in it somehow. Hell, I assured him that if he and Dave want to eat cake off each other, go for it! I'll even record it, as long as I don't' have to take part!

But, Jeffie seems to think he'd rather referee. Weird...

Doesn't matter, though, 'cuz it just ain't happening' folks.

Recap by The Metal Wulf

We were joined by three out of four members of Stone Soul Foundation on this evening, always cool to hang with these guys. They've got some local shows comin' up, one of them a mere week away at Hoopes Park in Auburn. That is also a FREE show, so if you're of a mind, and the weather isn't too crappy, you'd be doing yourself a favor by checking these guys out.

They'll also be at Bull's Run in Seneca Falls for a show that will feature both electric and acoustic performances, and you can catch that gig this Saturday night!

They also mentioned that they'd still like to do a video for their song, "Christian", and they're open for any ideas regarding that. Hit up their Facebook page if you have any suggestions!

Honestly, check them out. I can't remommend them highly enough. I know I say that a lot, but this is straight from the heart. They are a flat-out GREAT rock and roll band!

There was further discussion regarding possibilities of Josh leaving us for a teaching job outside the country. This time the job is in Spain, and he'll actually be travelling there in another week or so for the interview. If all goes well, and he accepts this job, we're just hoping he has a chance to come back and hang with us one more time before departing for a year. It would make for a Hell of an evening on the Onslaught as we gave him a going-away party he wouldn't soon forget.

No, really, I'm betting a lap dance from Jeffie would be pretty damned unforgettable...

Now, personally, I don't follow the Billboard charts all that closely, but I still find it relatively cool when a true metal band hits high. Case in point, Testament's latest (Dark Roots Of Earth) hit #12 on Billboard's Top 200. Now, like I said, I don't really follow them all that closely, but I'm pretty sure that's the hightest any Testament album has ever hit, and it just goes to show that there are a LOT of people out there who still love and support this music. Hell, I'm interested to see where it goes from here, potentially cracking the Top 10, maybe?

We had all (and I mean ALL) gathered at Suzy's in Auburn that previous Tuesday night to catch Banshee's free show, which was pretty damned killer. Just a shame the turn-out couldn't have been better. Still, Terry and the boys seemed pretty pleased to have an audience to play for, so I guess it was all good!

Sincerely, they're a great bunch of guys, and they shouldn't be missed if they come anywhere near you.

I'd mentioned something to Jeffie once again about being part frog, and he was pretty indignant when it came down to denying having any association with frogs. Yet Raven insisted that she combined his DNA with that of a frog when she cloned him the last time. I mean, the guy was eating MOTHS for cryin' out loud!

Yet, he seems to be in a very strong state of denial. He even stated that if he was part frog, he should be able to hop long distances. He proceeded to test this statement out by maneuvering my chair into the middle of the room and attempting to hop over me, with little to moderate success. And, as it frequently happens, Jeffie ended up on the wrong end of a beatdown from Joe, eventually getting tossed ass-first through a computer keyboard. The remains of which, I should stress, got used to pummel my forehead, almost resulting in flowing blood...

All in a night's work, what can I say...

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

As most of you are aware, the previous week's show had been pre-recorded, as a large percentage of the Onslaught crew made their way to Rochester to see Dream Theater at the Main Street Armory in Rochester.

Kick-ass show, I must say, with highly impressive performances not only from the headliner, but also from openers, Dark Day Sunday. For those unfamiliar, this band includes Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall) on drums and Frank Aresti (Fates Warning) on guitar, and quite frankly, you should check them out. Highly recommended!

Still, it was good to be back on the Onslaught after our short little break, and we were more than happy to have members of both HorseFace and Mercia on hand. Both bands are promoting the upcoming Hickstock event, which is a two-day event being held at the Phelps Community Center on July 27th and 28th. There's a very diverse line-up of entertainment, a little something for everybody, and it sounds very much worth checking out, if you're of a mind to do so!

This particular night was actually kind of special, as it fell directly on Joe's birthday, bringing folks out of the woodwork who hadn't been around in some time. My brother Bill and his little lady, Erica, made it out for a bit, and were kind enough to drop off some awesomely delicious brownies for Joe. Good to see them both, as it's a little difficult for Bill to hang with us as much as he used to, considering his new work hours. Still, he likes his new job, and if he can only periodically drop in for a couple of hours, so be it. We appreciate it all the more when he can drop by!

Another visitor was Sloth, who I had prior knowledge of only from watching some of the old Last Exit For The Lost DVD's. To be honest, nothing...and I mean NOTHING...can "prepare" you for an evening with Sloth...

You see, it starts with this nerve-shredding screeching and squealing. I mean, there may be words intermixed with the noise, but if there are, I surely couldn't tell what most of them were. I'm pretty sure at one point there was a great deal of "RANDY! SEX!" screamed at me, to which I shrieked back, "NOOOOOOO!!!"

And, of course, Jeffie and JustJoe from The Last Exit crew were on hand to add to the carnage...

Oh yes, there was carnage...carnage the likes of which had not been seen on the show in quite some time. I'm honestly thinking not since Rick and Josh's birthday. Numerous implements of chaotic destruction were on hand for our use and/or abuse, many items of which had been previously used on the show. The anvil was back, not to mention a couple of Kendo sticks (they hurt, a lot...take it from me...), as well as lots and lots of barbed wire.

There was the traditional barbed wire board (which some of us were body surfing on...) and the barbed wire baseball bat, as well as a new item, the barbed wire BALL!

Yeah, you read that right...and seeing Sloth and Josh playing soccer with it was a sight to behold, I must say. Sloth being barefoot at the time, of course.

Also interesting to play "Hot Potato" with, I must say...and let's not forget the barbed wire Bowling!

Josh eventually kicked the ball a little too hard, completely knocking it out of shape and requiring it to be re-wound and re-bound, ultimately making it look more like a Flail than a ball...and it also made a very nice pendulum!

Somebody also broke out a staple of the Last Exit shows, this being what's known as the "Dick Bat". Literally, it's a little dildo that was expertly duct-taped to a Whiffle bat by EVD when we celebrated my birthday in 2010. Kind of an awkward item to have in the midst, to be perfectly honest.

Seriously, you'll get to see all this and more once the video is put up later this week. It should be pretty freaking memorable...

Let's see...there were also some amusing discussions throughout the evening.

One discussion centered around a letter that I personally guarantee was NOT written by me, suggesting that I was not only a Trans-sexual but perhaps also a Pan-sexual or some crazy shit like that. Not even 100% sure what that means, but I'm guessing it's a way of suggesting that I wouldn't be too particular of where I'd stick my penis...Personally, I think there's way too much speculation on what I'm doing with my penis, and maybe some jealousy that it's not being directed in certain directions? Just speculating, of course!

** Letter Supposedly NOT written by Randy aka Metal Wulf **
I, Randy Smith, on this occasion of Joe's 50th birthday, am proud to announce that I am indeed a Transvestite. And a Panvenstite. And Pansexual. That's right, I will have sex with anything and anyone. None of you are safe, well, I mean, I am slow, so you can probably run away, but if you don't want to run away, I assure you will enjoy yourself, because I am a sexual master. A Pan-sexual master at that. Just ask the broom in the other room. It was beyond satisfied. So, I now offer my special services onto you, Joe, and anyone else here, included those of you who are inanimate. Meet me in the other room during the music set and we will get down... ***

And, in the realm of things that I personally find utterly terrifying, there was talk of a new breed of spiders in India. Apparently they're closely related to tarantulas, and are pack hunters. Specifically, they've been hunting HUMANS...

So, with that being said, I don't foresee me taking any trips to India in the near (or distant, for that matter...) future. Sorry folks, ain't gonna happen...

Recap by The Metal Wulf

Well, things got underway just a little later than expected, and it was actually mentioned that there would only be a brief amount of time for actual No Pants Day celebration, since after midnight it would no longer be No Pants Day. But Jeffie assured us that it was now known as No Pants Weekend, so we were apparently in the clear to continue as planned.

So, taking something of a cue from Foul Mouth Girl, who two years ago cruelly deceived us all with her infamous "It's after midnight, so No Pants Day is over..." trick, Jeffie, JustJoe, and Raven were wearing layers of undergarments. Arm wrestling challenges throughout the night would determine who took off a layer. Just think of it as "Strip Arm Wrestling" instead of poker, you'll get the idea...

So, Jeffie and JustJoe both took turns trying to best Raven in arm wrestling matches. Now, those who've become familiar with her over the past few months know that Raven is pretty damned tough, and it was Jeffie and JustJoe who were found on the losing end most of the time, and we had to endure the sight of them peeling down one layer at a time. I'm almost postive at one point that Jeffie was wearing a pair of lacy women's undies. I'll give 'em credit, though, they tried really hard and actually were able to beat her a couple of times.

Jeffie had mentioned a "secret identity" early in the evening, and this was later revealed. Yes, he informed us that he was actually the Undie-Taker...stealing our undies right from under our noses. And, true to form, out of nowhere, some of us started losing underwear...Unfortunately for Jeffie, our long-suffering host, Joe Wyatt, was among those caught sans underwear, resulting in one of the most brutal beatdowns with large pieces of styrofoam that I've ever witnessed. Now, you may laugh, but styrofoam makes one HELL of a mess when you continually bash it into someone's head, and it's almost impossible to clean up, especially when the vacuum cleaner is MIA... Truly, it was a horrible, HORRIBLE sight...

Also of note, and actually very funny, was Foul Mouth Girl's dominance of Josh. We were all wearing shorts, so by that definition alone, we were well within the attire requirements for No Pants Day. But, of course, people started stripping to their underwear, and Josh deciided he didn't want to. Which, in all fairness, is FINE. But, whenever Josh got difficult, FMG would yell out "Take your pants off, Josh!"

And he did, without question, every time! Pretty damned hilarious, to be honest.

Just as amusing was the visit we ALMOST received from Steve Papagiorgio, who apparently doesn't stay up to date with our antics via Facebook, and who didn't see an entire week's worth of No Pants Day promotion, and who decided to visit us on that night! Until he was greeted by Jeffie in a pair of boxer shorts...We tried to get him to come in, we really did, but in the end I think he just couldn't bear the sight of me in a t-shirt and my Batman boxer briefs.

I'll bet he'd have stuck around if they were Darth Vader boxers, though!

Unfortunately, not quite so hilarious, was my...ummmm...episode...or something...that resulted in further trauma, adding to the damage i'd already inflicted last year when the Olaf personality took over for the first time. The only difference is that this time it wasn't a viking people saw, it was Wulfie...not fully covered in fur...or clothing for that matter...doing the Blue Meanie dance...

...and once again, I am so, SOOOOO sorry...

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

As we continue to count down the weeks leading up to the 2012 editon of the Finger Lakes Metal Fest, we were happy to once again have Order Of The Dead in the studio. Much to our surprise, the entire band was able to make it this time, and if you take a little meander over to the metalwulff YouTube page, you can watch a brand spankin' new video interview with the guys!Order Of The Dead is another of those bands that we strongly suspect are going to cause structural damage to Donselaar's before the evening is out. They are an extremely tight, brutal metal monstrosity, and if you don't believe me, by all means come on out to Clyde on May 19th. And bring a bucket, you'll need something to carry your face home in...

An early discussion centered on something that I'm at least somewhat excited over. Kinda funny, because just a couple of weeks ago I remember being surprised to see that Blink 182 were playing at the Blue Cross Arena. My first thought at the time was, "Since when do we get anything resembling a heavy rock show in Rochester these days?"

Well, things seem to be looking up in that regard. Just when you thought the Blue Cross Arena had some kind of bug up it's ass regarding hard rock and metal shows, Van Halen actually has a show scheduled there on July 17th! Of course, my excitement was quickly replaced by confusion (more like dumb-foundedness...) when I saw the opener, and outright, insulted rage when I saw the ticket prices...Don't get me wrong, Van Halen is easily among my Top 10 favorite bands, ever. I love 'em to death, I really do. But I'll be DAMNED if I'm going to pay even the nose-bleed price for this show (approximately $60.00, with top-end tickets running to $140.00...) to watch these guys with Ky-Mani Marley as a support act!

Okay, no disrespect to Mr. Marley or his musical heritage (his dad was Reggae legend, Bob Marley), but you know something? I fucking HATE reggae...I DESPISE it...and I can't even imagine why the guys in Van Halen would consider this a reasonable opening act. I mean, they had Kool And The Gang open for them in Buffalo, and now this? Is this some kind of statement on their opinions concerning current rock acts, because I don't honestly think they're listening to the right bands...But, that's just me. Hope everyone who goes has a good time, I sure as hell won't be there.

The rest of the evening are pretty much a blur to me, as chaos was running absolutely rampant. The guys from Order Of The Dead got to experience first hand just how crazy things get. It all began with a visit from Jeffie, which really should come as absolutely no surprise. Jeffie had been absent last week, and I was unable to pass along the late Easter gift I'd picked up for him on impulse. I thought for sure he'd like it, being the simple, child-like being he is. I mean, who can honestly look at any kind of stuffed animal and have the reaction he had? So, I showed him the utterly cute stuffed frog I'd gotten him...and he went completely out of his mind. Literally, he ran away in sheer terror!

Okay, I have to at least plead a touch of ignorance. I had NO CLUE that Jeffie was afraid of frogs. I mean, had I known this, I might have picked up a little rabbit or lamb or duckie or some shit like that, anything but a damned frog!I did my best to ease the situation, showing Jeffie the frog up close and trying to get him to see how cute and soft and cuddly it was, but he just started laughing maniacally. Then, he started breathing heavily, and was saying, "HUSK!" over and over...

For those not familiar with Jeffie behavior, "HUSK!" is a very, VERY bad sign, and I did the only logical thing I could think of at the time.

I tossed that fucking frog off to the side and ran for my life!

I didn't get far, and the resulting beatdown I received from The Ultimate Jeffie was...unpleasant...but, I've received worse, and I'll recover from that just fine.Things got worse when Jeffie just started going through personality changes like they were nothing. He was so deeply damaged by that frog that we ended up getting visits from both Pepe AND Thor, resulting in me getting Gorilla Pressed and dropped like a sack of potatoes. Hell, even Raven, tough as she is, seemed to be having a hard time dealing with each of his aspects!

Of course, what made things worse was that Jeffie would forget about each incident, and he'd keep coming back, demanding that I give him his Easter gift, and I'd tell him, over and over, that he'd already received it, and that he kept beating me up when I'd hand it to him.

Ultimately, the evening concluded with a completely new Jeffie personality manifesting, quite possibly one of the most disturbing ones yet. Honestly, I need a big ol' roll of Mental Floss to wipe my brain clean of the horrors we endured at the hands of Fred...Fred seems to be the ultimate "Dirty Old Man", and he doesn't exactly discriminate when it comes to forcing his attentions...guy...girl...it doesn't seem to matter. And with No Pants Day just two short weeks away, I'm thinking we really don't want this guy lurking about too much...

Recap written by Randy Smith (AKA The Wulf That Should Not Be...)

Hard to believe that we've alread devoured a quarter of 2012 already! Let's see, as it stands, the next show will mark only one month away from No Pants Day (you KNOW you wanted to be reminded of that...mwahahahaha...), and after that it's only a short couple of weeks until Finger Lakes Metal Fest.

Holy shit, time is just flyin'!

We'll have plenty of stuff to fill those weeks in, too, especially if we keep getting to feature bands that are appearing on Metal Fest 2012. Prime example: This week we had Armed With Valor in the studio. No strangers to our show at all, this time they were kind enough to set up in our studio and play a few tunes for us. Always awesome when stuff like that happens, I'm just waiting for the day when we have a band that starts causing structural damage, making cracks appear in the wall...maybe dumping us all in the basement when the floor caves in! Good times!

For those interested, there's a new interview with the band up on my YouTube page, as they discuss their Metal Fest slot and some other appearances they've got lined up, not to mention recent video projects and their long-awaited full length album! Check it out!

Wasn't a lot of time for insanity, buy you know us. It's always lurking about somewhere...

Case in point, I've been suffering some serious repercussions from a visit to The Last Exit For The Lost that Rick and I took last week. Honestly, I really enjoy hanging out with them, but...bad things tend to happen to people on that show...and I usually leave questioning my already dubious mental state. I mean, as it stands, I don't even know who my family is anymore! All of a sudden, both Kal AND Rick are claiming to be my father? Raven is apparently my mother? And just when I thought I was giving a back rub to a beautiful woman, I was actually giving one to Rick's friend Ken...who is definitely NOT a beautuful young lady...ewwwwwwww...

So, of course, by Friday night I was a mental wreck. Add to that the fact that Jeffie had been convinced that he was a zombie, only to be turned into a mummy by Adam (a friend of The Last Exit who periodically drops by when he's in the area), and before you know it, it was just one case of identity crisis after another... Can't even imagine what things are going to be like this coming week, as Joe and Josh will be in Rochester to see Onslaught and Empire Of Evil. That leaves Rick and I to maintain some semblance of sanity as we also feature Burn Everything and Horseface in the studio. And there's also going to be a full moon, not that there should be anything to worry about in that regards...

Still, I've got a bad feeling about this...

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

Squared Circle Wrestling (2CW) performer, Muscle Marcos, joined us in the studio for a good portion of the evening. Seems that Marcos is no stranger to The Metallic Onslaught, but it had been quite some time since he'd dropped by for a visit. He was more than happy to bring us all up to speed, though. As previously mentioned, there was a 2CW event held at Suzy's Tavern in Auburn last Saturday night, and I'm glad to say that Joe, Lance, and myself all made it out enjoy it. Marcos had a match with former (WWE-era) ECW wrestler, Colin Delaney. Happy to say they had themselves a pretty solid match, although I hardly recognized Delaney. He's come along a bit from that skinny, pimply, somewhat dorky guy that was getting annihilated from one week to the next on ECW. Also cool to see former WWE Superstar Carlito in a match, not to mention familiar faces like Dewey Murray and Superbeast (who we'd all seen perform with UWF in the past). All in all, it was a fun night, and I'm looking forward to a return engagement, possibly in a slightly more accomodating venue!

Much to our surprise, NeoTheist's Matt Greenwood dropped by just to hang out, which was cool as hell of him. Seriously, if prior guests want to hang with us, they're generally more than welcome, never been a problem! Let's see, what else transpired...?

There was a brief discussion regarding No Pants Day again. Hey, like I've said before, it's approaching that time, like it or not, with just a couple of months to go. Seriously, though, I'd mentioned some plans I have for that evening, which, understandably, made everybody a little nervous. Now, I know everybody involved (especially those who were present last year...) have no reason to trust me, but I honestly have a fun little idea that shouldn't be even the least bit truamatizing...well, maybe a liittle...I mean, it really depends on your level of tolerance...hmmmm...

Honestly, there is no way I can make it any worse than last year without getting us booted off the air, and that is NOT going to happen! Trust me when I say that I have a fun idea that may not even transpire! I assure everybody that, if I can pull this off, it won't be anywhere near as horrific as last year's escapades!

Jeffie had a very bad night. I mean, it got about as bad as it can get for a Jeffie unit, and that means that by the end of the night, he was dead...

Hey, the guy NEVER learns, as I've mentioned (see previous recaps and my "Full-Circle Learning Curve Theory..."). Between tickling Josh, bothering Raven for her Tazer, annoying Marcos, and throwing my fedora on the floor before kicking it around the studio, the guy really did have some punishment coming. And I'm pretty sure he was tanked on bleach again...

We all got in on the beatdown action throughout the evening, with me attempting to put his head through a door before putting him in a sleeper, and Marcos clobbering him with his Shake Weight (yes, the guy comes to the ring carrying a Shake Weight...hey, I've seen worse gimmicks!).

Ultimately it was Raven who took Jeffie out, with a pretty brutal kick to the head. So, yeah, in the closing moments of the show, another Jeffie had bitten the dust.

Not to worry, whether we want him or not, I'm sure Azkath will provide another Jeffie in the coming weeks, and we can look forward to perhaps taking that one out, as well!

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

This edition of The Metallic Onslaught featured NeoTheist in the studio, an extreme progressive-metal act from Rochester. Very cool to have them on board, I'm happy to say they fit right in. Drummer Brady Mentz was even enough of a trooper to take a taser shot to the tush, courtesy of Raven.

Seriouisly, I'm pretty sure the guy volunteered, so that makes a grand total of two guests between the Onslaught and The Last Exit For The Lost who have willingly allowed themselves to be zapped. The other victim being Bryan from Sorrow Of Batavia, who not only took a shot to each ass cheek during one show, but came back the folliwing week to administer a shot all by himself! Which, being Bryan, really isn't so surprising. He did, after all, volunteer to ride to Cold Stone Creamery in Bill's trunk that one night a couple year's back...

Musicians can be sooo silly!

In all seriousness, this band's got some chops and you can hear their latest demo streaming live on their Facebook page. They'll also be celebrating their demo with an official CD release on March 31 at Monty's Krown in Rochester. Check 'em out!

Funny, I don't think the guys in the band knew that we had a reputation for insanity on the show, as they seemed a little shocked when Azkath came out and started beating on me for something I'd said. Honestly can't remember what triggered that particular beatdown, but it seemed to confuse the band just a tad. I assured them that it was all more or less part of a "normal" Onslaught evening.

Speaking of the usuall craziness, in addition to Brady getting zapped, Jeffie was on hand once again. Seems he can't get enough of that damned taser, which I kind of look at this way:

As it stands, if it makes him happy and he leaves the rest of us alone, where's the harm? Let him fry himself silly! (Sillier...?) It's really only annoying when he gets zapped while latched onto somebody else (usually me...and it SUCKS!!!). So, I say we should all pitch in and get him his own taser, and he can sit iin the corner and play with it until he's a smoking, blackened husk sitting on the carpet!

Then, of course, Azkath will just make another...

Oh, remember when i'd mentioned the learning curve as applies to Jeffie? How it pretty much goes all the way around, coming full circle, so there really is NO learning progress? His continued dealings with Raven have more or less confirmed this theory of mine, as she continually beats the snot out of him before zapping him. Seriously, this lady showed some impressive martial arts skills, landing a kick straight to Jeffie's dome at one point. Sincerely, I wouldn't mess with this lady!

Once again, though, there's that whole "full-circle learning curve" thing...

There was further mention of No Pants Day. Now, some may say it's too soon to discuss such things, but the truth is, as of this coming Friday, we'll be looking at exactly two months from that particularly...ummmm, awkward...event. Now, the general consensus seems to be that the only way I can make the night worse would be to go completely naked, which I'm NOT GOING TO DO!

Jeeez, chill already, folks, I'm not that crazy!

As a matter of fact, it was pretty much agreed that I am not only to wear pants that day, but I am to wear DOUBLE pants! Two layers, on the first Friday in May? That could suck, considering you never know what early May can be like weather-wise. Shit, we could have snow on the ground or it could be in the 90's!

I personally guarantee that whatever goes down this year on No Pants Day, it will NOT be me who traumatizes everybody in the building! But, that doesn't necessarily mean we're coming away unscathed...

And besides, look on the bright side. Just a couple of weeks after No Pants Day, there's an even bigger event to look forward to, with that being Finger Lakes Metal Fest!

See, there really IS light at the end of the tunnel!

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

Wasn't much time for craziness on this installment, but it was far from a dull evening. David Henninger from Spater was on hand to share the line-up for this years edition of Finger Lakes Metal Fest with us, and I'm here to tell ya, it's gonna be fucking KILLER! The bar has been raised, and I'm suspecting that Donselaar's might need to reinforce the builiding beforehand. No kidding, the place may not be standing by the time this is over! So, here's the facts as they stand. Finger Lakes Metal Fest will take place on Saturday, May 19. Once again, it will take place at Donselaar's in Cyde, NY and will feature 20 bands on 2 stages. As always, this is a FREE event, the only expenses you have to worry about are gas money to get there, plus whatever you want to bring to spend on merch, food, drinks, etc. Camping is available, in case you overindulge a bit and don't feel like driving home. Just bring a tent!

And, once again, this event will be emceed by The Metallic Onslaught! And now, the meat and potatoes! This year's line-up features the following:

Spater/ Inersha/ Tarantula/ Caged/ Horseface/ Lowkey/ Awaken/ The Untold Lies/ Order Of The Dead/ Hate Machine/ Circus Grenade/ Poetry In Black/ Dawn Of The Apocalypse/ Takken/ Burn Everything/ Stygian/ The Long Cold Dark/ Laestrygonia/ Cassidy Has Cholera/ Armed With Valor

Can you say "must-see"? Really, I can't think of a better show to kick the summer concert season off than this!

Speaking of potential "must-sees", Squared Circle Wrestling (2CW) will be putting on a show next Saturday at Suzy's Tavern in Auburn. Yeah, sounds crazy, but they're gonna do it, and the main event is going to be a STEEL CAGE MATCH! Inside of Suzy's! Still trying to wrap my head around that! All this and more was discussed as a couple of 2CW representatives told us a bit about this event, and more! I'm thinking it's gonna get a little wild in Auburn next Saturday night!

Not much else to speak of this week, besides the excitement over the impending Iron Maiden concert at Darien Lake. They'll be performing their on July 16th, and I really couldn't conceal my enthusiasm over this show. Bottm line, I've NEVER seen Iron Maiden! Every chance I've had to see them, something had to go wrong. Powerslave tour? Parents wouldn't let me attend due to a downswing in my grades...Somewhere In Time tour? College classes and lack of money...Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son? Lack of funds...

You get the gist, I'm sure...

So, yes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one. This could very well be my last chance to see them for a long damned time, considering I'm pretty sure the last time they came around here was Ozzfest 2005...Seriously, between that, Mayhem Fest, and some really cool upcoming club shows, 2012's looking to be pretty damned kick-ass!

Recap by Randy Smith, aka MetalWulf or Wulfie.

Disclaimer: Any suggestion that was made Friday night that the Demon Azkath may have wi-fi in his sack is purely speculative...at least, I sure hope so, 'cuz that would just be really, REEEEAAALLLY weird...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, this week's installment of the Onslaught was pretty much dominated by a visit from Rochester instrumental rock act, The Isotopes. Now, I got to see these guys play during halftime at a roller derby bout, so I knew they were good. Old school guitar rock, very much in the style of 60's icon Dick Dale. At least, that's what they reminded me most of. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they could up the heaviness level appreciably when they played live in our studio.

No bull, it was a good time. Hope they can drop in again sometime, and maybe bring their go-go dancers along for the visit. I highly recommend them, so check 'em out if you get the chance!

As for that video footage, you'll also get to see Azkath beating the crap out of me.
Okay, I suppose I had it coming. Once the band was done performing, I'd mentioned that I wasn't sure if it was Jeffie or Azkath that was in the studio, and, well...somebody got really upset by that...and the beatdown commenced.
And culminated with a big stack of records falling on my head, leaving a nice selection of paper cuts for my trouble. Oh well, I've had worse things happen...

Let's see...

About the only other pertinent topic that I seem to remember has to do with the efforts we're going to take to further pursue my weight loss. Already trying to improve my eating habits, but exercise is a slightly different matter. Fact is, my joints suck, and yeah, carrying the extra poundage isn't helping. Truth is, even when I was much lighter, it was hard to get around.
Azkath recommended that a bike may be my best bet, which I'm in full agreement on. Only one problem: I have an upstairs apartment, and no bke rack within a reasonable distance. At least, not in a place where I can trust that it won't come to harm. I suppose I could bring it upstairs when it's not in use, wouldn't be that big of a deal. Hmmmm...food for thought...
Of course, the whole topic just got completely out of control when it was mentioned that i could just get a large, adult-size tryicyle and ride that around.
In my man-kini...at the playground...
NOT MY IDEA, I SWEAR!!!!
Believe me, I know full well where that would land me. I personally don't care for the idea of jail/prison time, I've managed to not have to go near one for pretty much my entire life, and I'd really like to keep it that way! But, were I to ride near, oh, let's say Kid's Territory right here in Seneca Falls, I'd end up behind bars faster than you could say Elizabeth Cady Stanton...

Recap by The Metal Wulf

So, we returned Friday night after pre-recording the previous week. I believe Azkath and/or Jeffie took care of that show. Haven't listened to it yet...almost afraid to, to be perfectly honest.
Anyhoo...

So, on to the actual show recap!

So, in celebration of Halloween, I'd dressed as former ECW and WWE wrestler, The Blue Meanie. This came about from a discussion toward the end of summer when we were joking around about going as members of the Blue World Order (bWo). Joe suggested he could be Raven, and at the time we figured Josh could make a good Stevie Richards. Thing is, Bill could have pulled Stevie off as well, so either would have been great! I, of course, chose the Meainie, because with the right hair cut and the face paint (not to mention that I have his dance down pretty well...) I figured I'd pretty much own the costume.

And I did!

We had Chris and Brian from Sulaco in the studio, and they brought us up to date as we played some tracks from their newest release, Build And Burn. They were also kind enough to do a video interview with Rick and I.

Speaking of these interviews, you can see them on YouTube under the metalwulff page. You can also find a direct linik to that page at the main website. There you'll find all the aforementioned interviews, live videos from shows we've attended, not to mention some other crazy shit I've put up.

Jeffie, of course, was on hand. He was dressed as Azkath for Halloween, but you could still tell it was him. I mean, really, you just know...
He seemed a little confused by Bill, who was covered from head to toe in Cookie Monster attire. This meant that Bill was going as Jeffie for Halloween, by the way. Or maybe Bill had been afflicted with the dreaded Jeffie virus. Hard tellin'...
As for content, Jeffie just couldn't seem to shut up about this news feed he'd read about a fecal transplant. Kinda put the rest of us off, to be honest. I mean, I'm perfectly happy with my own poop in my own body. Don't want anybody else's poop inside me...EVER!!!
Ewwwwwww...
He also mentioned something about having a spectacular speculum, whatever that means. Probably best not to speculate...
Hmmmm...No Speculation About Jeffie's Spectacular Speculum...
Beyond that, I really don't remember much else about the evening, which is probably for the best!
Return top
